Human Nature

I’m doing something a little different from normal today, because I can.  I was inspired by a few things yesterday – A blog, Plurk and a music video.

I am a member of the Plurk community, and while I do keep my circle small, for my own privacy (and I do think I have the best list of Plurk friends honestly), I see negativity (I am totally guilty of it too btw).  But a lot of times it hasn’t even come from a plurk friend, rather someone discussing something they have seen… all the same, we all “live” here.  I think sometimes we forget that we are all human, that not everyone is going to have the same opinion… and that despite what some think, we are all free to express ourselves as we like.

Meanwhile, I was catching up on my blog reader, and came across this great post by Gala Darling – I Am Not Sorry.  You should really go read it all, but I will quote you my favorite part:

Drop the apologies. Don’t apologise for simply EXISTING. That is ridiculous! Let’s make a pact that we will only say sorry when we really, truly mean it; not in place of “excuse me”, or “no”, or anything else.

YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE. Never be ashamed of that. Own it! Love it! You only have one life.

Anyway, Gala references this song/video that Madonna did *long* ago – Human Nature.  One of my faves forever…

…Did I say something wrong?
Oops, I didn’t know I couldn’t talk about sex
I musta been crazy
Did I stay too long?
Oops, I didn’t know I couldn’t speak my mind
What was I thinking

And I’m not sorry, I’m not sorry
It’s human nature, It’s human nature
And I’m not sorry, I’m not sorry
Im not your bitch don’t hang your shit on me…Its human nature…

So I decided to try to recreate Madonna’s look…. maybe to catch your eye, drag you over here and make you read?!

Anyway, my point (if I have one), is that we all really need to quit being so uptight, nailing people to the cross, apologizing for things we don’t really want to, etc etc.  We are all actually human…

Express yourself, don’t repress yourself.
